Why do you need a Home Ventilation System?

Mould, mildew, condensation and dust mites are prevalent in many New Zealand homes, a reason why we have one of the highest asthma rates and respiratory illness in the world. For a healthy existence and a healthy home, fresh air is essential. Unfortunately current concerns with safety and energy efficiency result in homes being closed up contributing to health issues. These problems can be reduced greatly by improving the ventilation of your home.

Home Smart supply and install two different ventilation systems manufactured by Smart Vent:

  • Smart - Vent Heat Recovery Ventilation
  • Smart - Vent Positive Pressure Ventilation
Moisture generated by Showers/baths

Moisture generated by everyday activities within the household

Cooking 3 litres per day Washing Clothes 0.5 litres per day
Clothes dryer 5 litres per day Showers/baths 1 litre per day
Breathing (sleeping person) 0.5 litre per day Breathing (active person) 4.8 litres per day
Dishwashing 1 litre per day

Smart - Vent Synergy Heat Recovery Ventilation

This Vent Heat Recovery Ventilation system consists of supply airflow, extract airflow and a Heat Exchanger. A balanced system is created by extracting stale moist air from the home, with the introduction of fresh filtered dry air into your home. These two air paths flow through a Heat Exchanger which is situated in the roof cavity. The two airflows never meet which prevents any cross contamination which gives you a healthier home.

As the airflows pass by each other, up to 90% of heat from the extracted air is transferred to the incoming air which is now delivered into your home. This system functions non stop offering ventilation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week saving you money with recovering heat and cooling your home.

Extract Air: Stale moist air is extracted from the home and passes through the heat exchanger before exiting the house

Exhaust Air:Heat is extracted from the warm stale air on its way outside

Source Air:Dry fresh air is sourced from outside or the roof space before passing through a high grade f7 filter

Supply Air:Source air is warmed as it flows through the Heat Exchanger before being distributed into your home through strategically placed adjustable diffusers

Benefits

  • True Heat Recovery from a secondary heat source
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Energy Savings (up-to-date readings on your energy savings including: dollars recovered, energy efficiency and carbon footprint)
  • Full Colour Touch Screen Controller
  • Heat Transfer Included
  • Summer Feature

Smart - Vent Positive Pressure Ventilation

The supply airflow draws dry, fresh air from the roof space which is then filtered and distributed throughout your home via diffusers which are strategically set in the ceiling.

The air introduced positively pressures the home and displaces stale moist air generated by activities such as cooking, washing and drying. Moist contaminated air is expelled. The result is a cleaner drier living environment, less prone to condensation and fundamentally free of airborne contaminants. This system incorporates airflow supply under pressure, giving its name positive pressure.

This system is smart enough to select where air is drawn from. Air can be drawn from your roof space, outside your house or from your lounge, while in Heat Transfer mode. This system chooses the warmest supply point during winter and the coolest supply point during summer.

Home Smart recommends the use of a duct heater for units installed in the South Island.

  • Automatic Summer Feature
  • Whisper Quiet Acoustic Insulated Duct
  • High Performance Multi-Speed Fan
  • 5 Year Warranty

Heat Transfer System

Do you want to transfer heat from one source to other rooms in your house?

Smart Homes have available a Smart-Vent system with an added Heat Transfer Upgrade Kit. This offers the luxury of a combined ventilation and heat transfer system. Heat Transfer works by extracting excess heat from one room that has a heat source and transferring it to your other rooms using Smart-Vent outlets.

This system works from your Smart - Vent controller which will be mounted in the heat source room. Your desired comfort temperature is set on your controller; this is the temperature you would like the heat source room to reach prior to heat being transferred. Once this temperature has been reached the system will automatically switch over to different motorised dampers.

The first damper prohibits the supply of air from the roof cavity or outside and draws it from the heat source room.

The second damper closes to stop the air being re-distributed back into your warmed room which allows maximum benefit from your excess heat by supplying it to your other Smart-Vent room outlets. Once the warmed room drops 1°C below the set temperature the system reverts back to the Smart-Vent ventilation system and continues supplying air from the roof cavity or outside.
